I wish I’d been able to better capture this moment: what you see before you is a grown woman (maybe between 25-30) wearing knee-high socks embellished with a faux-crystal skull and cross bones. Her torn jean skirt has crystals on the back pockets, her mittens have tiny stuffed animals on them and in her hair she has a bejeweled clip. No, she isn’t burying her face in her hands in shame, but she might be crying glitter.
This woman didn’t hold a candle to the (slightly younger-looking) woman who hopped on the bus shortly after wearing over-the-knee pleather boots with rhinestones adorning their tops, pink buffalo plaid leggings and a faux-wool lined turquoise coat, topped off with a multi-colored knit beanie. If only taking pictures of strangers on a bus wasn’t such a weird pastime I might take it up full-time.
